Oh and the other exciting thing of the day... I have 2 baby gerbils now-  Competely unexpected- I had 2 older gerbils together for about a year and no babies resulted until today...
They are cute.

She's on a precipice of change. Who is she? What does she want out of life? A thousand things scroll through her mind as the world unfurls before her. She's lived for other people far too long, and accommodating others wishes-this has occurred for so long that her self-identity is fogged. What she does know is that she is proud of her achievements of the past school year and is eager to expand her mind and take pleasure in all aspects of life. This summer will be a time of reflection and discovery.

David Usher @ Reds, with Amy (who just got a tongue-ring, wow!)  Great concert, but no still no match for the Godsmack one I saw last year... What can I say?  Its just a matter of personal band preference for me.  Amy and I actually had more fun after the concert- a lot of people left before the band returned to do their 2 encores, so we grabbed great seats for the last few songs of the encores.  Before the show, we ran into a couple of guys walking out of Reds who shoved handfuls of Red's game's tokens at us as they were leaving, saying they didn't need them.  It was awesome!  Must've been at least $15 worth of tokens.  During the last slow song they sang, we ran down to the games to escape the crush for the exit... and played games, shot stuff, won prizes, had a great time.  Finished off the evening munching a second late supper at Wendy's drivethru... with chocolate malt deserts.  Yum!  Ironically enough, I admit I preferred the recorded music playing in the intermissions and after the concert better than (most) of David Usher's songs... apparently I'm more of a hard rock fan than quasi-pop. Listening to Disturbed now, think I might pick up the cd tomorrow.  I'm still buzzing right now... Boo-ya!!  Yeah, David Usher has a few excellent songs, but honestly most were, well ... boring.

Yeesh, I was pretty sick this morning again, it was strange- Bryan said I slept like a log and didn't move the entire night, but I swear I could've used another 3 hours of sleep even though I had plenty.  When I woke up I was all dizzy and moving my head down or to the side brought on fresh rounds of dizzyness.  First got over a cold, then a fever, now dizzy spells today.  I must have no immune system right now.

Amy and I went home and visited my parents early this afternoon before the concert. Dad's b-day was yesterday, and he loved the present I got him.  We all watched Trigun with Vash the Stampede .. Amy borrowed all the DVDs from Clayton but doesn't have a DVD player, so a trip home was in order.    Awesome series, I'll put up a Vash dedication page here earlier like the one I had on my old website.  Dad found a ton of information on asbestos remediation for me from work and gave it to me, so I can use it in my presentation in my ENSC remediation class on monday... I kinda haven't started that presentation yet.  I'm gonna be a busy girl tomorrow.  Essays, presentations, labs, oh my!   Mom  looked pretty stressed and tired, I hope a good night's sleep will help her.

Hmmm...time for a bubble bath now or I'll never get to sleep and get up to do work tomorrow.   *grumbleschoolgrumble*   Washes all the smoke out of my hair from the club too,  bleh.

Corrupting 18 year-olds is fun.  I'm so evil, lol.  Alcohol is good.

I learned something today..... there is NO sweeter sound than Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction after watching 5 hours of Hanson.

Hmmm... maybe I wasn't the one who did the
corrupting then, eh Carla? LOL

Well, can't say anything too exciting has been going on, especially now that the first round of midterms are over. Tomorrow is the last day of school before reading week though!  yay !   Not that I have been doing a whole lot anyways.   Spent a nice relaxing weekend with my boyfriend-- poor thing was sick !!  He was all sleepy and I stuffed him with medicine and food and he slept a lot.  Seems a lot better which is good. :)  Mmmm. Buckleys.  Yesterday the big excitement at school was in the greenhouse- we got a ton of new fish last week and yesterday the guppy's had baby fish!  Baby fish are so cute!  I ran around and told everyone about them when I found out.  They are so tiny, must be at least 20 of them.   Well, I guess you'd call them " fry ", but I don't like what that implies too much.   : o

Last night at 7:30 at Skyreach was the much anticipated Nickelback concert.  It rocked!  I went with Carla- met her after school at the university, and we attempted to get her computer to run a couple of my programs but they didn't work.  Anyways, we checked out a different pizza place near the dorms where she lives, and the pizza was just awesome- homemade; you could see the whole family working in the back there, this was one of those great non-commercialized family-owned businesses, they're the best.  It was just freezing outside!-  I must have worn like 4 layers of clothing until we got to the concert.  Our seats were great- they were on the second tier, and we were at the front so we could overlook the ledge without anyone in our way.  They were filming a DVD during the concert, so you can imagine the excitement of the crowd.  The show was awesome- jokes abound, pyrotechnics, fireworks, surprise appearance from one of the guys of Alice in Chains.  All round, and excellent show.  I still can't hear quite properly, but at least my voice isn't croaking anymore !

Hello hello.  A new year dawns!  X-mas holidays were enjoyable- I managed to visit most of my friends, do a few crafts and sketches, and I finished a lot of errands and things I've been meaning to do for a long while.  I don't think I'm quite ready for school yet-- I'm enjoying this holiday stuff too much-- so I hope that my classes are kind- meaning I hope the homework doesn't start for at least another week or two.  My marks were excellent in school- got one 9, two 8's and two 7's.  I'm rather happy about that- specially the 9 there in my summer course.

This cat picture at left is extremely bizarre, but oh-so-funny, and I couldn't resist displaying it.  I hope to be changing other pages on my site soon.  I have a brand-shiny-new optic mouse for my computer!!  Its the kind with the red light on the bottom and it has four clik buttons.  Very fancy-- I like it a lot; my old mouse suffered a clik problem and had to be put down.  Oh hey, I discovered the best beverage- NesCafe coffee-syrup stuff.  It allows you to make your own ice cappuccino's at home; I add some cream and chocolate to make it taste even better.  Unfortunately, I drank three glasses of it tonight during my tinkering with the recipe, so I'm rather awake right now on this coffee-sugar-chocolate mixture.  Ooops.  It gives a better buzz than cream soda and coke slushes!

Dec 11th, 2001 - The exam I wrote tonight was really easy, I think I did really well.
- I got 90% on my Limnology paper!
- Yay !!!!

Two more exams to go, and they are the easy ones.... in theory anyways.

The sweetheart pictured at left is my favorite gerbil named Blaze.  She just sits curled up in your hand with her legs dangling and squirms happily.

Oocystis !

Isn't it cuuute?

Microcystis aeruginosa, Nodularia spumigena, Aphanazomenon flos-aquae, Asterionella formosa, and Anabaena spp.
*One of these things is not like the other !!*  That's right boyz and girlz, its Limnology time!   I know you are all so jealous of me.  You are thinking.  "WoW.  Can I write that 20 page report too?"  Well, here is your chance !   Write me your best limnology paper and I'll give you a big hug!   That's right, send'em to me and get your hugs now!  Hurry now, this is a limited time offer- this darling's due on Friday, so get on typin'!

(PS, I know you are dying to know:  All of the above cyanobacteria dudes are toxin-producing, except for Asterinoella.  Have a great day !) (mmm yummy, bailey's is good schtuff.)

Nov 25th, 2001 Goal for today: finish my mouse glycogen lab report for my physiology class.  I'm about 1/2 done already, and will finish it today!

Tomorrow I'm going to take my digital camera to work @ school and take pics of the animals I look after. I've never really had pets of my own, so I've adopted these guys in a sense instead.  Wish the rats were still around though- they were really cute.

This is what weekends are made for: hanging out with friends, and generally having fun.  Carla and I took a mock photo shoot, visited a craft sale, did some x-mas shopping, bought Nickelback tickets!!, and ran around like hooligans, as usual.  Check out computer-edited Carla in 'goth' at left at my place.  (I took the Harry Potter pic off my main site- happy now Carla?  lol )

Okay, goal of the day:  finish my bio report on rat intestines.  Yes, like the name implies... it was a gross lab.  yuk yuk yuk.  Those rats were really cute, such a shame.  Anyhow, I actually made it to work today, amazing 'cause last week I kinda thought I was working at night, but found out when it was too late that I was supposed to work in the morning.  oops.  I only develop film once a week, you'd think I'd be able to get it right!

Whoa, think I had way too much coffee on the way home..... I'm just buzzing right now....

Don't worry, haven't given up on this website yet, just so busy with school.  Have 3 major biology reports that need 10 journal articles as sources each, then a couple minor bio reports.... then exactly 2 weeks to the last day of classes, then finals.  eek !   Mom's taking me out for lunch and grocery shopping, and other random shopping which will be fun.  Haven't seen her in a while !  Last Friday I went to the opening night of Harry Potter.  It was soooo good.  I'm not kidding- I'm not a Harry Potter freak, but I thought it was the best movie I've seen all year.  Yes, it was that good.   Can't wait to see Lord of the Rings in December now.  Think I'm done finals by then.

Halloween is over, back to schoolwork now... come to think of it, putting Bryan's decomposed-squashed-leaky pumpkin on my website is pretty disgusting.  Oh well,  I doubt anyone visits this site anyways :)

Trust me, this looks worse on my desk than in this picture....

(happy now ?)  ; )

Happy Halloween!  I'm just up for a night of watching scary movies and relaxing........ just finished a major history report over the last few days.     :)

Check out Bryan's cooool halloween pumpkin at left !  The teeth are especially neat.  I drew the eyepatch- the pumpkin had a scar there, so we thought it would be fitting and all.  The pumpkin was a Save-On special !

Whoa, midterms are finally over.  Marks ranged from 90% in Physiology to 41% in  Biochemistry.  I think I'll take Biochem NEXT year, when I have more time to focus on it- it is just too boring and disappointing right now.

I've taken to carrying around my digital camera with me wherever I go.  The picture of the Ukrainian woman statuary on my main page (and at left) was taken on my way home from my Environmental Science 204 night class.  Normally I just make a bee-line straight home, but it was just after the first snowfall and everything looked so magical.

Oct 4th, 2001 This time of year always seems depressing- midterm time.  Everyone is stressed, gathered in nooks in the school studying and reading furiously.  As the week moves on, you see more coffee cups and dark circles under everyone's eyes, and you see less make-up and less 'cool' dress styles.  I forgot how this happens- over the summer you forget about phases of the year as you're all caught up in fun summertime activities and work.  But it is not just 'midterm' time. Many people I know are working right now, rather than going to school, and they too are caught by the 'down' bug.

Perhaps its the shorter photo-period: gives the illusion of less time in the day for the duties and activities- both important and unimportant.  The complaining!- everyone has frustrations to vent and release it seems.

Thank goodness for cable modem, comic books, Playstation... and friends to distract.  :)  :)   I hope I can uplift some of my friends.  It seems that many of them are going through difficult times right now.  :(

Hang in there !

Sept 26th, 2001 Yay! Someone signed my guestbook!   Thanks Carla.  :)

I'm beginning to think having 3 part time jobs and being a full-time student is a bad idea.   Hey, I know you're thinking "DUH" right now, but I really thought I could do it--  I only do each job maybe once or twice a week, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem.  But now I have midterms, and reports, readings, and studying to do....   something has to go very soon.

Sept 22nd, 2001 Yesterday my Liminology Class visited a couple of lakes in the area, and did water sampling.  I took a whole roll of film... just for the sake of getting to develop a set of my own pictures at Save-On where I work, instead of everyone else's.  It's amazing how many boring, dull rolls of film people bring in.  Anyways, we'll analyze the samples we took in the water during the rest of our labs over the semester.  I really enjoyed the trip, just the whole experience of being out in the field and collecting data in a real-life situation instead of listening to theory in the classroom.  That's probably my main complaint about Biochemistry right now-- no labs.  All we get is the theory and abstract ideas.  At the last lake, our teacher's van and trailer got stuck in the water, and we had to bring out a 4x4 to get it pulled out.  That was amusing too- we didn't have to wait long for the truck, we just went out and did the sampling in the meantime.  Yesterday, I also finished cleaning all the cages of the gerbils/hamsters/mice, etc.  I now have no desire to own a small rodent of my own anymore....   yuk

starbucks.JPG (73083 bytes)

Ahh, finally a relaxing day.  A day I purposely did no schoolwork and didn't even feel guilty about it.  Had a close friend come and visit me for a long while after classes, then went to the library to do a little reading.  Started nodding off there after awhile- so as I headed home, I went into the new Starbucks attached to the library.  Everything looked so cozy.  I pulled up a chair by the window, and drew what I saw across the street as I sipped some sort of fancy coffee-mocha-ice-whatever drink.
Sept 16th, 2001 Well, tomorrow I start a job at the lab at my Canadian university.  I work in the "Greenhouse".  Its the biology room where they store all of the small mammals, insects, fish, plants, etc.  I get to feed and clean them and pretty much maintain the lab.  Should be a lot of fun, and it looks great on a resume later if I pursue a career in biology.

It's going be interesting too- the only experience I have of looking after animals is with my 3 goldfish: Streak, Ghost and Snout.  I've had these goldfish for over three years, ever since I got the tank-- they just won't die and let me buy fancy tropical fish!!  cripes, they were only 16 cents each.

I've finally come to terms that my fish are immortal and bought another tank so I can get 'cool' fish.
